What's neat about this photo, besides it being a great image of NYC, is that one of the movie marquees shows a Charlton Heston movie "Bad for Each Other".
The tie in is that my Mom grew up in NYC and was about 19 years old in 1954. She has fond memories of Manhatten during the 40s and 50s and even worked at the Copa. Anyway, she ran into Mr. Heston in a Hotel Lobby back in 1954 (maybe even during a promotional run of this movie, my Mom cannot remember for sure) and got a kiss from him.

Nice pic, Six. Looks like Canadian Club has been around awhile, not sure how though.
By the way... are you going to post some pictures of those beautiful billiards of yours any time soon? I keep checking to no avail.

Great photo.
Has anyone noticed the number of cars in the photo? Man, Manhattan in that area is almost never empty!

Thanks jerod - I've been very preoccupied lately, but your post has shamed me. :)
I've wanted to post on that thread and so now I will finally make the time - look for a post shortly!

Yeah, chuck is alright. We were at the nutcracker many years ago down in los angeles; and mom stepped on his foot back stage. I think he was the rat that year.

I follow a lot of these "vintage" picture sites, both for my city (Ottawa) and others like NYC.
This link came across my FB feed yesterday and I found it fascinating being a huge fan of the film...

I was already roaming the streets around Times Square in 1954. I think that was the year I got kicked out of a porn store for being way too young. The place I got my Cigarillos was one block from here. Didn't meet Charlton Heston, but once was in a elevator with Cab Calloway. He didn't kiss me. There was plenty of traffic. This is an unusually high quality photo. I wonder if it was done with a 4x5 Graphic.
