I don't care much for tobacco reviews, because what one person likes, another hates and vice versa. Since I had enjoyed the original Royal Comfort and I smoke Milan's Royal Comfort on a regular basis, I thought I would give the Arango Cigar Co. version a try. I smoked many bowls in several pipes so that I could give a legitimate observation. All versions are quite mild. The new version is smooth and won't bite no matter how hard you try. It burns at a moderate rate and burns to a light ash. While the Milan version has a background taste of caramel, the new version has a different taste. Arango states that it has perique and that is what I believe I taste. Now keep in mind that most of my taste buds went on vacation years ago and never came back, but the remaining buds know what they like and don't like. I am not a big fan of perique, but I am happy that this version has it or it wouldn't have much taste at all. It is a good all day smoke that you put in your pipe and forget about. As for me, I enjoy the Milan version more. It is surprising to me that this tobacco has been resurrected so many times. It is just a basic blend, of which there are many better blends to choose from. I notice that SP is sold out of the tins already. I feel that at $17.95 a tin and $66.95 a pound bag, that Arango will have a hard time getting repeat customers. I have been wrong before. It was 1986 and I found out later that I was right. I will smoke the rest of the tin and will enjoy it, but I will be satisfied with the Milan version.
