Did you take it out of the box? =D
What kind of tobacco are you trying, is this every blend you've tried? Are you loading the bowl in a gravity fill way? (so as to not over pack it), are you drying your tobacco enough, which goes to the previous question of what are you trying to smoke with no luck.

Let's see. In order to keep the fire going, what do you need? You need fire, fuel and oxygen. You have ember, and tobacco. So you need to let in oxygen to keep it going. That means, you need to pull in the air by drawing smoke into your mouth through the pipe.

That's pretty obvious. But let say your tobacco is too wet or if your tobacco is not packed properly, that will present less than optimal situation for the pipe to keep going.

Dry the tobacco, pack the tobacco so there will be room for air to move around, and make sure to slow steady draw in proper interval, cadence, and you have.. A witch!

Hmmm. How does the pipe draw when it is empty? Is it free and clear and not restrictive or whistling in some odd way that would indicate a blocked airway? Take off the stem and run a pipe cleaner through it and the briar and make sure the way is clear. Then follow the above instructions on drying the tobacco, packing loosely enough so air can feed the ember, and use a blend that is innately easy to keep lit, like a ribbon blend were the pieces are about the same size. Codger blends are good for this purpose; that's one reason they are still around. Report back with the results and see if people have other ideas if things aren't proceeding well.

You are asking for help and at the same time providing next to no information.
I will tell you what I tell all newies who ask questions:

1, Dry your tobacco out
2. Don't load the pipe as tightly
3. Smoke slower

More information is definitely required to fully answer this question.

Is this your only pipe? If not do you experience the same problem with your other pipes?

What kind of tobacco are you smoking? Have you tried different blends in the pipe, and if so, do you experience the same problem with all tobaccos?

Is the tobacco really moist or is it dried out?

How does the pipe draw when it's empty? Does it move air freely or does the draw feel restricted?

Remember, re-lighting is a normal thing. Don't expect to smoke a bowl all the way through after your initial light.

Just bought a Peterson XL220 and will not stay lit any ideas
As others have said: We need more information.

The only thing we can absolutely say with 100% certainty is that the pipe itself has nothing whatsoever to do with the problem you’re experiencing. (So it doesn’t matter whether you bought a Peterson, a Dunhill, or a clay.)

Keeping a pipe Lit is just an idea most people think your suppose to be achieving.

Having a hard time first trying to light tobacco that is possibly a little too moist is one thing, worrying about keeping a pipe lit is another.

The latter is just a personal preference.

Also, depending on the complexity of the blend, always lit, to much heat, and constantly smoking can kill off the subtle nuances in some blends.

So depending again, on personal preferences and the blend complexity, barely lighting a blend, and only taking a few small puffs, then letting the pipe go out, is the best way to experience some blends.

Need more info. Is it one tobacco, what type of tobacco. In general, dry the tobacco more than you think you should. Packing, just feed ot in loosely until its at the top snug then grab a small amount and stuff it while puffing until the draw is soda straw. Use the weight of the tamper to tamp; don't use force until you know how it should feel. Don't tamp that often. Rub out the tobacco really well unless its already is.

Forgot to mention; relights happen. It's not a cigarette. But if its going out with in a couple of minutes then try those things. And Peterson is one of the best pipes you can smoke. It's not the pipe.
