Just started smoking mersh. Do you mean Meerschaum! ???

I got my first pipe when I was in the Navy and one of the many ports I visited was Turkey. Walking along the many shops of the market place I noticed many of them had black leather boxes that looked like smoking pipes. I purchased a few of them and sent them home and forgot about them completely untill just recently. I got them over 20 years ago and they look just like I got them.

My guess too is mersh as in meerschaum. Meer or meers is also appropriate and more recognizable. Welcome!
