I like both. If truth be told it's easier to find bargain meerschaums on eBay, because most people are looking for briars.
That's true. I've gotten them from Meerschaum Market's ebay store for much less than the same pipe is listed on their online store with the "Make Offer" option.
one thing I will say about meer. Is larger chambers work better with meer then briar in my opinion. It doesn't get as soggy the flavor just deepens. I guess I am saying if you want a bigger chamber for a longer smoke go for the meer option. My second one has a pretty big chamber and although rarely used, man when it does it's great for a long smoke that stays perfect through and through. Just a side note.
