This year has been a year of new exploration for me after many years of having my set-in-stone go-to's and special hard-to-find favorites stocked away for nearly a couple decades. I delved deeper into the oriental genre and found some new favorites from my already esteemed burley and VA styles. Figured i'd share them and see if there are any of you whom have had a similar experience this year.

Here's what i came up with:

Burley:
Cobblestone Hiking
Savinelli Jupiter
C & D Pegasus
4th Generation 1931

VA:
C & D Opening Night

Oriental:
MM Luminaire
4th Generation Twilight
GLP Geometrie

Honorable mentions:
C & D Bijou
Savinelli Janus
GLP Sixpence

If you found some new favorites this year, post em up and maybe i'll give them a shot, too. So the journey continues...

Great pick with Pegasus! That's easily my favorite Burley blend, by a country mile.

As far as my favorite new tobacco discovery this year goes, I gotta go with Sutliff 507C Virginia Slices. I had put off trying them for quite some time, since they're a bulk blend and incredibly inexpensive so I figured they couldn't be all that good, but I'll be darned if this isn't the absolute best bright Virginia flake I've ever smoked! Imagine Orlik Golden Sliced but without the bergamot topping or Perique and that's what you've got with Sutliff 507C Virginia Slices.

It's a totally natural tasting tobacco with no detectable toppings or casings, and the brightest most lemony pure Virginia flavor I've ever tasted. You get the usual grass, hay, green tea, and occasional honey notes that you'd get with any good quality bright Virgina as well, but the natural lemoniness is just out of this world and I couldn't think of a better smoke for a hot summer day!puffy

Mac Baren Balkan
Mac Baren Vintage Syrian
Mac Baren Old Darkfired
Bob’s Chocolate Flake
There are many more that I love.

Love ODF and the occasional bowl of Bob's Chocolate. S Gawith's Choc Flake is also great, VA sweet. ;)

HU Soraya, Sadly though it does not jar well, if you crack a tin, it is best to smoke it straight through the flavor dissipates rather quickly. YMMV
