Got this great mahogany calabash today! I'm smoking it right now its great!

I stated in one of my early posts that i would never get a non-gourd calabash, well i was wrong...

Anyway my questions are how do you clean this pipe? i found that the pipe cleaner does not connect with the stem and the bowl hole or at least i could not pass it through, also can you use a folded pipe cleaner to set on the bowl to absorb the moisture?
Thanks!

If this is built like a gourd calabash, then the meerschaum bowl is just an insert. It will pull out.
And, no, you'll never get a pipe cleaner to pass from the stem into the bowl, since the bowl isn't connected to the stem in any way. Just run a pipe cleaner through the stem as normal, and lightly wipe out the inside of the meerschaum bowl with either a folded pipe cleaner or a dry paper towel.
You actually want moisture to soak into the meerschaum, though. That's what helps it to color.

Fine, noble pipe. When you smoke that, you know you're smoking a pipe. Gourds and mahogany are the standards.

I also like the Calabash shape in briar. It sometimes merges with the Dublin and horn shapes, but the domed brim

is always a pleasing architecture in a pipe.

I wasn't clear enough for the pipe cleaner part, i meant the wooden bowl chamber not the meerschaum bowl!
Thanks for the tips Bob! :puffpipe:
Haha yes! Truly noble pipe! I felt somehow noble-ish when i smoked it! though the bowl ended before i expected it !

The mohagany will absorb the moisture. You can wipe it out but I never have. Make sure you let the pipe totally cool before removing the stem or bowl. You don't want either to become a loose fit.

Like Dave, I also have one of the smaller GS pipes. Mine is a good smoker as well. Good advice has already been given, so I won't really add much. A pipe cleaner through the stem, make sure no cake forms in that meer bowl and you're good to go!

is the interior of the meerschaum bowl suppose to "flake" ?

nothing major bur it appears that its quite more fragile than my other meers.
