Our Featured Interview on The Pipes Magazine Radio Show tonight is with Neill Archer Roan. Neill is a pipe community celebrity. He was the most prominent, sophisticated pipe blogger (he quit blogging), has photographed nearly a thousand pipes, and innumerous pipe makers and industry personalities, has a huge collection of artisan pipes and vintage tobacco, wrote and photographed the pipe book; “Comoy’s Blue Riband”, plays classical guitar, and is Principal of The Roan Group, a strategy consulting firm based in Washington, DC. In Pipe Parts, Brian will give a “State of the Pipe World Address”, including news about the Chicago pipe show, and the PCA trade show.

Can't wait for it. I hope Brian asked him about why he stopped blogging. I had hoped it was because he wanted to convert his blogs into a book.

Sure do miss his blog. i also hope he makes them available. I have two of the pipes he commissioned for Passion for Pipes. One a Rhodesian from Jack Howell and the other a Rad Davis Chubby Author.

I have three of the P4P pipes: the two by Jack & the one by Martin and Anders. I cheaped out and didn’t buy the Rad, and have been kicking myself ever since.

Wow, sounds great! Neill's been off the pipe community radar for a while, this should be interesting. He's one of the premiere guys in the hobby.

Great show. I’m not a collector but always enjoy hearing how they go about building a collection. It seems like everyone has a different motivation and focus.

Awesome music selection. Neil was an amazing musician and person. The world is a lesser place without him. Pick any interview with him at random and you can’t help but to be struck with how thoughtful, driven and funny he was.

Renfield is referring to the drummer from Rush who, coincidentally, shared the same first name as the show’s interviewee.
Yikes, I didn’t catch that on my original post. That is uncannily ambiguous and specific at the same time. Too late to edit it now.

Neill Archer Roan is alive and well. Neil Peart, sadly, is not.
