Here you go. Sorry was waiting for the auction to end. Still no clue what it isThose are makers marks. Not hallmarks.
However, the one resembles the Birmingham mark. (The Anchor)
Sorry, that’s all I got.
Can you show the entire pipe?
Perilous…… so close….. that’s how Chinese goods work.Yup, Road Town, the R is SOOO close to the S and R (Steve and Roswitha) mark, it's perilous.
So you're thinking it's a Chinese knockoff?Perilous…… so close….. that’s how Chinese goods work.
As real as my Revi jeans from Amazon. You mean my Ribson Les Paul isn't real?
So a Chinese knockoff of a Chinese pipe...that's Inception level stuff...So you're thinking it's a Chinese knockoff?
It's a real Road Town pipe. So it's Chinese of manufacture, yes. The pipe intentionally bears stamps that are very close to stamps found on other pipes - anchors are pretty common, the Maltese Cross, and a stylized script "R" very similar to an American hand made brand. None of it is accidental. They should put a crown on there too and people will think "Maybe it's an old Stanwell..."So you're thinking it's a Chinese knockoff?
I feel like this is a bit far fetched.... what well known pipe makers use anchors and crosses? It would make more sense to go after the B, C, D's.It's a real Road Town pipe. Oh, they are very much into copyingI feel like this is a bit far fetched.... what well known pipe makers use anchors and crosses? It would make more sense to go after the B, C, D's.
I can agree on them pretending to be an established brand with high-brow markings that could trick people into thinking it's an established brand. I mean Castello started with a made up word for marketing purposes.
Just saying I don't think they're trying to counterfeit anything.... because we know there are actual counterfeits out there and the ability to replicate exact pipes

No lol, I bought it because it's a great looking sub-$100 pipe and I love capped pipes. I'm here because usually something with 3 symbols would be identifiable and the listing didn't say.And look, the strategy worked... the OP bought the pipe not knowing what it is, but HOPING it was a .... something.
