This is the Argentine twist I smoke which is grown in the north of the country by growers who also cure and ferment it. It's a Criollo variety which is full of flavour and is mainly used for making snuff. I would say the closest to normal shop bought blends I've tried would be the Samuel Gawith ropes.

The Brazilian varieties I've had are way too strong. That having been said perhaps it's time to revisit them. A family member is going down there in April or May and I'll have to ask her to visit the tobacco shop in the Central Market.

I have tried a small length of twist from Brasil and was disappointed with it....it was low on strength and taste. To be fair I suspect it was meant to be smoked as a self rolled cigarette rather than in a pipe.
As your picture shows Brasil does have many different varieties of twist compared to Argentina so there must be some good ones out there more suited to pipe smoking. ?
