Heard this over and over. "Murphy's is a great substitute for Guinness." BULLSHIT!

Murphy's is a fine stout. However, it's different type of stout. The taste character is different. It's sweeter, florals and thinner mouth feel. Guinness, on the other hand, is a sour stout. They are not a substitute to each other.

What the hell they've been drinking? Were they sober before the tasting test? Fuckers deserve nothing other then horse piss.

That's the "Golden Virginia is a perfectly good substitute for Three Castles" argument. Only if you have the discernment of a plant pot.

Sounds like I'd like Murphy's better. Am not much of a beer drinker but find Guinness too bitter for me. Do like darker ales somewhat. Years ago Sam Adams made one which was rather good, "Scotch Ale,"

To me, Guinness is almost tasteless (at least the variety that's sold in grocery stores). Definitely not bitter, unlike some IPAs that I normally drink. Creamy, though.
Not sure if I've ever had Murphy's.

I like them both, there is only one place that I know of in my area that I can get Murphy's, and I frequent it often, but I do like Guinness stout as well, The Guiness Draft they sell in the states not so much.
