I ran across the mention of Morgan Pipes in a recent thread and really like the looks of the "Bones" line.

Don't pussyfoot around, tell me what you really think of Chris Morgan's pipes. Do you have any of these, and what's your experience with these pipes?

He says "MOST OF THE PIPES HAVE COSMETIC BLEMISHES." Are these just natural "character" of the wood? I like the idea of a pipe with "character", so that's not a concern for me.

Just wonder'n what people have to say, good or bad.

I don't own any, but they have a solid reputation.

By defects, he just means the normal stuff (like a few filled pits). You get what seems to be a factory 2nd pipe with a nice natural/blast finish. For the price, it's not a bad deal.
Yeah when I hear "blemishes", I think knotty pine type of character, from knots, insects, etc. That doesn't bother me in this type of pipe. I'm looking at it from the "rustic" viewpoint. Something like some old '49er would have had in the days of the gold rush days. Battered, beaten, worn, and workable.

I bought a couple of his pipes a few years back and haven't touched them since I got them. Not trying to hate, but the stems barely fit and the drilling leaves a bit to be desired. I think it was mostly my luck, but if you want a sure thing, I would go with a Molina or a Rossi which can be had at a very similar price.

I really enjoy the two bones pipes that I have. I use them as beaters and they are perfect for that. The billiards stem is a bit thick for my taste but the Dublin is just right. It’s fun to watch them color too.
I have a Stanwell Authentic bulldog that I've had for a couple of weeks, that I really like. It's getting some color, probably more from my hands than tobacco, but it's looking really good.

I was really drawn to the shape of this Bones, and being a "natural", I'm looking forward to putting some color on it.

I bit the bullet, and ordered the Bones this morning. Looking forward to getting it and checking it out. ?

I know most of the Morgan Pipes discussed are the Bones. I can't speak to them as I've never had one, but a few years ago I came across one of Morgan's BlackJack pipes at a very reasonable price. I liked the shape so I picked it up, and have never regretted it. It not only smokes great, but because of this pipes stem design, it's very comfortable to clench. I'm not sure if they're still made, but I don't think you could go wrong with one.

Thats a nice looking pipe!

According to his website, the Blackjacks are outsourced to a factory in Italy. I found a limited offering from tobaccopipes.com, and a few estate pipes on some other sites. His site only describes them, but offers no photos and no ordering information.
