Most often when a post comes up missing; it is because the one posting it didn't click on the Send Post button before clicking on the "Back to Forum Home Page" link.
If this happens just use you back button on your browser and then click Send Post.
You will find that what you have typed will still be in the Reply Box when you go back.
I do this myself quite frequently.

sorry Lawrence but that is not the case because in the first thread someone replied to me and said they clean every 40 to 50 smokes and was unaware if it would help Cob pipes
There's about 18 hours of posts missing from the forums.
