I am very intrigued by Mimmo Provenzano Calabash pipes. What is interesting is that he makes cups with different materials including unique materials such as resin mixed with Tagua nuts and polymerized Chili Pepper and Marigold which look very nice.

The question I have is how these resins/polymerized cups are made and how they smoke.

Is the resin/polymerized part making the entire cup or just the external part and if so of what is made the central part of the cup holding the tobacco?

Do they smoke fine, any issue with heat degradation of these kind of original materials?

I recall seeing what you have described by a couple of makers. The outer resin parts aren’t in the chamber, so the burning tobacco doesn’t come in contact.

That would be nasty tasting if it did...
