So I was smoking. Nothing new. But something dawned on me. Two things, but first is minor. So the minor issue. You want even light from the get go? Pack light. If it's not packed light, the air flow is impacted, and the light across the top of the tobacco won't be even.

Now the major issue. If the tobacco is too wet, taste of the blend will suck. When the tobacco is nicely dry, your bottom 1/3 of the blend will taste great. If it's mildly wet, mid 1/3 will taste better. There are reasons behind this, but simply too much moisture gives harsh smoke at the bottom due to moisture collection.

Many blends go flat in the middle or as soon as the topping decides to go tits up.

Blends that hold their flavor are my favorites. — it’s part of why they’re favorites.

Blends like Crooner, Pegasus, Granger and Winchester don’t miss a beat. Care you guess why?

Tobacco provides their flavor. Tobacco isn’t going to play a flavor bait and switch.

Ever try Fruitstripe gum? Holds its flavor for 30 seconds and then… Pftt.
