SMOKE IT! That's what pipes are made for...and the more impressive the pipe, all the more reason it should be used and enjoyed.

That is a beautifully carved Meer for sure. Just do what brings you the most joy. I'd smoke it, but if you prefer to admire it while smoking one of your other pipes that is entirely understandable. Coloring of Meers is one of their satisfactions, enjoyable to experience and a pleasure to see. But if you value its pristine white carving as a piece of sculpture, go with that.

I've decided to allow the Beret to remain a showpiece for now. I will focus the coloring onto this Altinay. It should be an enjoyable journey.

Completely up to you. I’m not into having pipes I don’t smoke but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with doing that.

It sometimes happens after a few decades of collecting. You have a group of favored pipes for smoking then you may occasionally buy one just to look at.
