McClellands Classic Samsun

I appreciate that Macas is gone. However, is there a blend that is very similar to the Classic Samsun. i.e. Oriental, Turkish, Va. blend?

I sure hope someone has the answer. This was my go to blend (along with Smyrna) to break in new pipes. I miss it greatly.

I asked the same thing a few months ago. Nothing thus far compares. Cairo by GL Pease is good, but not really close - not nearly as sweet or complex.

While glad I cellared hard on the Grand Orientals, most of them had McClelland's Virginias. Not going to find similar.

Give McConnel's Oriental a try. It's not exact, but some of the same flavors get highlighted.

^ good call. Doesn't stay in stock long in the US (at least in my experience), but it is available now and then. It's pretty nice stuff.
