I'm relatively new to English blends, and have only tried a handful so far. I've had a couple of the Froggies from McClelland and I've really enjoyed them, so I thought I'd try a more full bodied English from them. Anyway, I went with Blue Mountain, based on reviews I had read. I'm glad I did! It came today, along with some other stuff, and I couldn't wait to try it! Upon opening the tin, I was hit with a very rich Latakia aroma which was nice. Charing light gave another wave of Latakia. After the true light, it settled into a deliciously smooth smoke! Just thought I'd share, and was wondering if anyone else had tried Blue Mountain. Also wondering if anyone knows of a similar blend, as I'd be interested in trying them.

I am glad to read this review. I have become very partial to McClelland blends and am edging deeper and deeper into the Latakia preference. Will likely order some of this when I finally order my Christmas Cheer next week.

One of my faves. Definitely satisfies the Latakia jones, and it's bigger bodied and considerably sweeter (though not sweetened) than some other English blends, and light on the Oriental tang. Sometimes I crave a little more Oriental in the mix so I've been known to throw a pinch of EMP into my bowl of Blue Mountain. But a fine smoke. I'd also love to know if there are other similar blends out that there, especially any a tad drier (in flavor I mean, not to the touch).

@ Chervokas ,"Definitely satisfies the Latakia jones". It kinda left me jones'n for more! And yeah, it is kinda sweet. This is the richest Latakia I've smoked so far! Until now, the boldest Lat blend I had smoked was Boswell Countryside, which is also a nice blend.

This is a very fine blend. In the contest at the Chicago Pipe Show a few years back, to create a match for the legendary Balkan Sobranie 759, this won the "People's Choice" award, while H&H Black House won the judges award, and, thus, the contest. I have smoked both, and like them both, but personally prefer the Blue Mountain. I do need to add a few tins to my cellar.

I bought a tin of Blue Mountain last October on a whim. I also finished a tin of Blue Mountain, that I bought last October, on a whim. And I really need to order some more tins of Blue Mountain, because I am out.
I've never had the Balkan Sobranie 759. But it seems that most reviews I have read claim that Blue Mountain is a better match than Black House.

It is amazing how tastes differ. This is a popular mix, but to me it tastes metallic and inspires dislike.

I'm sittin here smoking som Blue Mountain in my Meerco floral calabash shap meer, and can't hall but notice that it tastes sweeter than it does in my briars and cobs. Does anyone else notice that big of a difference when smoking a particular blend in a meer?
