This one turned into a shop pipe, so in a way, it is a birthday present to myself. There is a pit in the chamber. So I figure I'll smoke the heck out of it and see if cake alone will prevent it from burning out over time. Like an R&D test.

Start it out easy and get a nice carbon coating going -- doesn't have to be "cake." I don't think it will be a problem. Nifty pipe; great shape and finish.
