So today I came home from work and packed a cob with Epiphany. Completed the charming light. Reached for my tamper. It was gone. I keep it in the same spot all the time. I believe my cat might have stole it. She loves checking out my pipe gear almost as much as I do. Anyway, have you ever lost any of your favorite pipe accessories?

Yes, I lost my favorite tamper. It was silver and had a cupped tampering surface and sharpish edge that I like. I just couldn't find it one day and that was that. It was years ago and I'm still bummed! Here's a photo of one exactly like it. I keep hoping that I'll find another one for sale one day.

I don't know. Never had any charming light. My lights are usually not very charming. If they were, I would be staring at them longer than my pipes. No, no cats. And my dogs are not very interested in tobacco, coffee, and alcohol related items. They sniff and turn away rather quickly. Rarely miss place anything. If something is missing, I'm sure to find it that day. Some days are longer than 24 hrs.

Yes of course like 3 or 4. Part of the hobby. It’s impractical to get too attached to them IMO. I also hold out hope for the possibility of finding them someday. I lost a cool Savinelli (I think) and a cool Butz C and some nails/Czech tools/that ilk. So a $35-45 hit on each nice one and $2 on the others. What can you really do after turning the place upside down a few times and traced your previous movements? Pack up a pipe, poke it down with your finger, and decide that you don’t give a sheesh. life will go on.

Speaking of cats and disappearing pipe paraphernalia, several years ago I inadvertently left a couple of packages of pipe cleaners on the kitchen counter. We had a cat at that time who loved to play with them. My wife found a few pipe cleaners around the house and told me that Tess must have gotten them from the packet I left in the kitchen which she put back in my office where I normally kept them on a bookshelf. I asked my wife if she found two packages and she said she found only one. I responded that I was pretty sure I had left two packages in the kitchen but she assured me that she only found one so I assumed I must have been mistaken.

Over the next couple of days, individual pipe cleaners were showing up scattered all over the house and we couldn't figure out where they were coming from because the package my wife recovered was only short a few pipe cleaners. A day or two later, as my wife was cleaning up around the house she discovered that Tess had stashed the second package of pipe cleaners in her little cat house, where the scattered pipe cleaners evidently came from. At long last—the mystery was solved!

I actually did lose my favorite tamper. My very first old man tamper I had made for me, from Ireland. He went on vacation, as he had a hard life. But I have his wood cousin, and his meerschaum nephew haha.

Lost my knfe / tamp tool. Id had it for years before I started smoking pipes, a gift from an uncle long since gone home. We used it for opening green walnuts one long afternoon and he gifted it to me then. Stayed the man draw as a slightly useless penknife for 20 years and then i ditched cigarettes and pot and discovered the now much better hobby of burning tobacco in a brier! Was most disappointed at losing it after having it for so long. One day this march just gone my wife was sprig cleaning and found it dropped behind a little cupboard we keep at the top of the stairs, hurray! Moral of the story is it may well turn up again, and hopefully not at the vets inside the cat! Good luck
