LJ Peretti #8 Slices Crumbs and Shake

Hello all. Writing for a little advice. I just received 8 ounces of the wonderful LJ Peretti #8 slices and there was a HUGE amount of non-flaked tobacco in my portion. My guess is that 25% of the weight was in non-flake or “shake” or “broken” form which I found surprising and unexpected and actually disappointing. Is this normal when buying 8 ounce portions? I bought 1 ounce about a month ago and it was 3 perfectly formed Sutliff-Esque slices so I, naturally, expected 8 ounces of that.
If this is normal I will do nothing and like it. If this is unusual, I will call Peretti tmro to discuss.
Wanted to get the forum’s thoughts first.

I suspect you’re right.

I can’t smoke it that thick so I break it down. Shake gets smokes first, big flakes get jarred for age.

I called this am and spoke to Nate. He was, as I suspected, totally pro and was happy to send a new 8 ounce portion. That’s service, folks. Thank you LJ Peretti.

I got the new #8 slices today and I learned something. If you don’t buy a tin with your 8 ounce order, they send giant, beautiful, totally intact crumble cakes. Nate at LJ Peretti, you went above and beyond and I’m really grateful. This shit is incredible.
