Here's a lighter I picked up years ago and never really tried to use it. I decided to see what it took to fix it up. So I pulled the cotton out, installed a new Zippo Wick, repacked the cotton, added fuel and BINGO. A lighter is born, again.
These were reportedly issued during WWII, so it's a nice piece of functional history.

Trench lighters I believe is the correct term. You can get cheap* replicas online. Keep meaning to get one, but they're a little on the big side for my tastes.
* Not that cheap, really... about £25 / $32. Now I know why I've never bought one 8O

Jud, yes, trench lighters are the generic name. I merely stated what was on the bottom of the filler tube
