Pictures of the 4 pipes as I mentioned earlier.

I smoke all my pipes - except three. There are reasons why I don’t smoke them, but I like them all

1. Van Roy Ajustomatic Magic Cake - I bought this pipe (circa 1940s) unsmoked and have smoked a fair amount. I have officially retired this finally, because of the restricted draw from the stinger. This is officially retired, but stays in my collection as a piece of history

2. I bought a MM Miniature Cob as a mean to have short smokes. I have never enjoyed a single smoke out of it. It’s not officially retired, but I have not smoked it for a long time. This pipe bought very early during my pipe smoking days, put me off Cobs for a long time. In fact only this week I have decided to give Cobs another try and have added a MM Legend to my current tobacco order, which is in transit.
3. I have a falcon with two bowls - Meerschaum and Briar. I almost exclusively smoke the Meerschaum bowl as it classed up the falcon pipe a bit. The briar bowl does not get smoked

I just remembered I have a fourth.
4. I have a Peterson which I have almost destroyed practicing restoration. Almost never gets smoked

but this outrageous facial appendage is smoked exclusively in private.

I can concur, I have witnessed him smoking this bad boy and it definitely appears as though he is participating in some lewd act. Definitely should remain as a private act, I am scarred for life.

This one's air hole is three little holes near the bottom of the bowl where the draft hole is located. The air hole and the shank are clogged up with a petrified growth of something or another. I have no certificate of authenticity but the person who gifted it to me found it on his property in Arizona about 20-years ago. It's made of some kind of rock. Pretty, ain't it?

Looks like something that belongs in an Old West Museum. I think its a good archaeological find.

Funny thing about the "ugly pipe" concept, whether they be cobs, broken briars, or whatever. I smoke on my back porch. No one sees me but family and friends and normally not even them. I think most smokers nowadays are relegated to less socially visible places most of the time.

I understand the joy of using a tool which has esthetic form to match it's function, but realistically, you are the only person who usually sees it.

I'm a cobber. I have some ugly old cobs which are favorites.
Also, I have often said that tobacco pipe smokers should take a page from the pot smokers' book and cobble together functional pipes from whatever.

I made this one from a piece of maple because I was curious as to how maple would smoke. I even held it together with homemade pine pitch glue in best paleo fashion... just because. It smokes great, albeit the bowl is pretty small. I use it for quick smokes sometimes.

Do I win the ugly pipe contest?

I don't think this pipe is embarrassing or ugly. It's one of my better smokers and smokes fairly cool due to its dimensions. Having said that, this pipe was one of my first eBay purchases, and it is the first and last Wally Frank pipe I'll buy; this was my practical lesson for first-time eBay buyers. If Wally Frank sold a pipe with this much putty in it I feel like anything they sold is suspect.

The pipe I am most ashamed to smoke in public, but is so handy when mowing the lawns. It was given to me by one of my best mates at a time when my pipe collection was rather slim.

Mine was a gift from my wife before we were married. She went to Mexico with some girl friends and knew I liked pipes. We all know what a pipe making mecca Acapulco is so she brought me back something like this below. I think I tried smoking it once and it was not good.
