LEGO Appreciation Thread

My kids are crazy about Lego. Absolutely love the stuff. As a parent I love it because of the replay value of it, when you are finished with something, just break it down and build something else. Stepping on it with bare feet in the early morning hours is of course another matter.

I recently bought a metric ton of loose Lego bricks and am cleaning it up to give some to my kids and resell the rest. Its tedious work, but they will love it.

Anyone else enjoy a good LEGO build with their kids?

Yes sir, my 7 year old daughter loves Legos. I buy them, making her think they are for her....when really I'm not fooling anyone

Yes! Kids, grandkids, and myself all have a blast building out of legos. You can look up designs on line for free now-a-days too.

Oh yeah! I love Legos. I have several of the annual Christmas sets that I have displayed at Christmas. I've posted this pic in the past...some of my WWII vehicles that I've made out of Legos.


Legos are even more fun now that we have grandsons (one who is 6 yo and loves Legos).

Very nice creations there Scott! I just dump them in a soapy bucket and rinse them off- cleaning them is a must especially now.

You can look up designs on line for free now-a-days too.

the LEGO website also has a free database of instructions for almost every set they've ever made

We played a lot with Lego, when I was a child and when my son was a child. We have now cellared deep with Lego here. Mostly Star Wars. Nothing rare. Some of my distant family were neighbours to the owner of Lego and therefore owned some of the land, which is now Lego/Legoland in Denmark and my grandparents had a toy shop for some years, where they sold some of the first Lego toys/bricks. The owner of Lego almost closed biz, before introducing the bricks but according to his biography, at a good lunch in Copenhagen, he finally secured a small contract to deliver enough toys to a shop there, instead of closing down the then very small toy business

My 5 year old son loves Legos. We even watched The Lego Movie today. Whenever he gets a new one, it is me playing with them most of the time.

My son enjoys them, and has the EV3 Robotics kit. Sometimes he wants me to build stuff with him, but after I sit on the floor and build with him, I feel like I’ve gone toe to toe with a heavyweight prize fighter when I get back up. ?

I had Legos when I was a kid in the 80s. I have vivid memories of playing with the “yellow castle” and pirate sets at my grandparents house. My kids are really into the Minecraft, Marvel/Batman sets. Great toys with lots of replay value, but $$$$. I have about a dozen or so different unopened Minecraft and Star Wars sets I’ve picked up when I’m lucky enough to catch them on clearance at Walmart. Holding on to them for when they’re older.

Isn't that the truth, I somehow enjoy searching for the right Lego piece in our bin of loose pieces. That 'slooshing' sound of the bricks brings me right back to being a kid.

I had Lego's in the early 70's, when we lived in Germany. The department store Lego displays were amazing (Karlstadt's?).

My daughter (and I) are Lego obsessed. We play with it everyday and build (and rebuild) all the time.

It’s a wonderful thing to share with your wee ones.
