I find it fascinating that in so many cases regarding various sensory perceptions, anything which falls outside a potentially very narrow range of common, becomes standardized as "normal", leading to anything outside of "normal" must be considered "unhealthy" or "abnormal".

I find it much more intriguing that we all potentially have the latent ability to recreate smells in this case (or whatever), and why not laud it as an appreciable quality?

What if "normal" is actually under-developed?
If you really ponder some of the anomalies regarding how our senses function it raises questions about the nature of reality itself.

I highly recommend The Holographic Universe...fascinating book I read many years ago. The first thing I always remember from it is a simple exercise in it with a graph and a star in the middle. Looking at it following the instructions it gives will illustrate to you how your brain will literally edit what you're looking at.

I would only say that, if discussed with your wife, you stick with the memories of the musty house with Knishes and avoid mention of the exgirlfriends perfume. Thinking about your physical well being here. As to sanity I’m pretty sure we are all bonkers, so this is all normal, or we suppressed the feelings, so as not to be overwhelmed. We need more contemplative time to preserve (or renew) our sanity.

Read it decades ago. 👍 I've gone deeper down the rabbit hole since then.
