Common sense returns to eBay, or someone got a great deal!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Heritage-Antique-Sandblasted-Billiard-Estate-Pipe-Kaywoodie-/111686631787?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=PFxJlfv%252FZVyIkuJj3xxl4IRtpnI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
ssjones, The seller noted that there were problems of over-buffing and over-reaming. Just a few days prior a Heritage Antique in a Canadian shape went for $100.
wolfe64, That is a nice little Yello Bole Bulldog. It should be a handy nosewarmer pipe.

Shape matters in the Kaywoodie world. Canadians usually do better.

Mark, I am glad the pipe is working well for you. If it is the shape/size I think it is, it should be good flake pipe, too.

xrundog, That is very true. Had it been a 73S...

very nice little KBB Dixie.
gambit88 - good looking Yello-boles and woodies. You are correct on your yello-boles they are pre-55 due to the KB&B logo. Any further dating would depend on nomenclature " Cured with real Honey" vs. Honey cured briar and stem material and so forth. One appears to have aluminum so probably post WWII between 46-55. I am sure they will all make great smokers. :puffpipe:

dixie, Thanks for adding you great KB&B find here.
gambit, I can really only add one thing to irish's comment. Namely, the stem of clover on the Kaywoodie large Bulldog appears to run parallel to the mouthpiece. If it does, that tells me yours is likely a post-WWII to early 1950s pipe.

Irish the smooth says honey cured briar and the rusticated says cured with real honey. Both stems look to be acrylic.
Buroak I figured they were both mid 50s. I know they changed the logo in the 60s to the white club but I've also read they used the other logo on some models in the 60s as well

I agree with what Buroak and sjmiller both said. Looks like you got a real nice pre war YB and a real nice Post war YB. I agree that both of your Woodies appear post war. Happy smoking! :puffpipe:

Pipes marked "honey cured briar" date to the early thirties, about 1933-1936. After that they switched to cured with real honey.
sjmiller, I think the date range for "Honey Cured Briar" may be earlier. I have seen pipes that from the 1933-1936 time period stamped "Cured with Real Honey".

Nice! I like the gentle curve of the stem. I have only seen those with straight stems.

Sjmiller, I am beginning to think that Yello Boles actually appeared somewhat earlier. My hunch is based on markings that just do not seem to mesh with the conventional timeline.

If it has the KBB stamped in the clover leaf it was made 1955 or earlier as they stopped the stamping after being acquired by S.M. Frank.
From 1933-1936 they were stamped Honey Cured Briar.
Pipes stems stamped with the propeller logo they were made in the 30s or 40s no propellers were used after the 40s.
Yello Bole also used a 4 digit code stamped on the pipe in the 30s.
If the pipe had the Yello Bole circle stamped on the shank it was made in the 30s this stopped after 1939.
If the pipe was stamped BRUYERE rather than briar it was made in the 30s.

lifeon2, Do you know of any hard data pertaining to the year the Yello Bole line was introduced?

Are you referring to the inlaid yellow circle?

I own a dozen or so YBs, KBBs and Kaywoodies.... Most of them pretty standard fare though.

Here's one you don't see often...... It's an unsmoked 9108 with a "Two Way Bit":
