Just for fun, a custom pipe...

All this talk of a custom pipe got me to play with Photoshop a bit...
This was an idea I had playing in my mind for the past couple of weeks and decided to see what it might actually look like. I don't think I will be pursuing this idea, but just for fun, thought I'd share it anyway. A paneled bulldog—blasphemy?

Thanks Storient - this is a combination of two pipes I found on the 'net - a regular bulldog stem with a panel pipe, then I did some further tapering and other minor touches...
For me, I really like the diamond stem of a bulldog - very classy to my eyes!
And the panel pipe is one that just seems to complement the squared edges of the stem...
But for my tastes, I like this in briar for some reason (has an old time 1940s feel to me), but now you've got me thinking of the perfect Meerschaum for me...

Thanks Storient - very good to know. I know I will own a meerschaum one day, and I will definitely be checking your site out when that day comes. I am so glad custom pipe making has been brought up, it will likely be the way I go for my next pipe purchase.

Looks like a panelled billiard to me.

Spartan - for me it was the stem. I only see diamond stems on Bulldogs, but you have a good point.

I am liking more and more myself actually, maybe (just maybe) I'll get it commissioned. It'll mean 3 nights sleeping outside in the dog house, but might be worth it...

Sasieni occassionally made a similar shape - a diamond shanked billiard variant with panels set at 45 degrees, called an "Arundel".
Was asked to recreate one - huge, huge pain in the but to make!

First one I've seen like that - very similar to what I've been thinking - looks nice.
