I bought this for the Calabash feature. Always wanted to try a briar Calabash.
The stummel is outstanding. The insert fits snug and secure. A rubber ring gasket mates with a slippery plastic band on the inside of the chamber.
The stem on this pipe is… a disaster.
The tenon, which allows it to take 9mm filter, is flexible and thin. This allows for it to work itself loose with normal handling while smoking. Looks like it was made out of PEX left over from a plumbing job.
The bit was a quite thin, and the funnel sloppy. A slight bump above the airway on the exterior of the stem, a small ‘curb” about an inch forward of the bit from uneven sanding. The material is so paper thin in that area I can see a pipe cleaner when I push one in.
I like the heft of the pipe, and the shape.
I’ll get a new stem made for it.
