In the sticks in Mississippi
I'm sure that most of you have never heard of Pharaoh Sanders, but he was a very progressive jazz saxophonist that I was first heard of around 1974. He played with John Coltrane and others, but was best know for his own works, including his most famous album "Karma". I was privileged to see him play live at the Lighthouse Cafe in Hermosa Beach CA in the early 1980s, along with jazz vocalist Leon Thomas. Many jazz folks might find his music "difficult" but it was powerful. I'll be firing up the turntable to listen to him with a bowl today. puffy
