That is nice pipe. No idea why, when I looked at the pictures, I was instantly thinking that pipe belongs on the deck of a old sailing ship. Minds eye was of a old sailor on night watch at the helm on a calm night contentedly puffing away.

Spencer: I still didn't smoke it. I know everybody tells that other shapes than round are not good smokers. I will check.
Bcharles123: I made two holes, different depth, with a 0,19/32 (cm. 1,5) drill bit then smoothed the rough edges off.

I was smoking it on a night and the lamp gave a lean forward shade that I wanted to reproduce.

The oval shape of the hole is due to the fact that the right piece of briar I found for this pipe was the rather narrow half of a block I'm using for another project.
