Iwan Ries Chicago

While in Chicago for the race I decided to make a visit to Iwan Ries yesterday. It's a very nice shop
good people and a wide selection of pipes and tobaccos. I looked inside the smoking lounge but didn't feel the need to pay for a day pass just to say I'd smoked a bowl there. All in all, it was a good experience even picked up 4 tins of Sansepolcro for $80, beat the hell out of what it's going for on the tobacco scalper's website.

My dad shopped there in the sixties and early seventies, and I’m sure the majority of the pipes he passed down to me were bought there.
In the unlikely event I’m in the area I’ll definitely make a visit.

I spent over an hour there while I was in Chicago attending a seminar over 20 years ago, looking for the right pipe and finally found one. A great shop.

To add- while I haven’t been there in person, an employee there I got on the phone spent a half hour looking in their old stuff to see if a new seal for my father’s old 9 pipe Decatur carousel rack’s jar could be found.
Impressed me for sure.

Worth a visit if you’re in the area. Not the easiest place to get to, but well worth the effort.

Never been to Their B&M, visited their website in 2009 to order Dunhill products that were being made available again in the USA after a hiatus, (some folks may have forgotten this) I made an order for Early Morning Pipe and Penzance, I received the Penzance about a week later, but the EMP had been put off do to a problem with a distributor, 6 months later in 2010, they pick up the phone and called little ole unimportant me that they have finally received shipment and wanted to know if I still wanted the order, I said yes, and had it at my home 4 days later, Top Notch Folks.
