I guess I laid in the pipe mud well because it held up throughout the smoke. Seems to have not only fixed the issue of not being able to burn all the tobac but that pipe also never smoked as well as it just did. The pipe mud darkened to so it looks like the cake buildup will cement it in place well, at least I hope lol. Thanks for all the advice and help to get this pipe smoking better then ever.

Sifted oak wood ashes from the fireplace, mixed with water makes a rock solid and non toxid
pipe cement. Good for raising the heel of a pipe, or repairing burns and heat fissures.
Can be sanded smooth and will not let go . Possibly a thin, organic bowl coating .
