My newest briar.
It's not for the "contest". I'm not experienced enough to turn out anything compared to some I've already seen posted. The contest was my inspiration for dipping my toes into the water.
This is for pure unadulterated selfish pleasure. I've been practicing on random pieces of wood around the house. Now I get to try to make a proper briar pipe.
I feel like a kid on Christmas day. I can't wait to see what I can get done on it this weekend!
Wish me luck.

Nice, that block looks like it will give you a wide range of pipe shapes to choose from, best of luck turning it into your pride and joy..

darthcider, that is almost exactly what my daughter said.
She said I should just polish it like it is right now. I explained to her that there are lots of shapes for a pipe. The differences are subtle. I showed her a couple of graphics of pipe shapes.
She said, "Ok, it will be a new shape. You can call it No-Skill".

"Leave it like it is and stick some googly eyes on it."
LOL! I wouldn't even countersink or inlay the googly eyes; I'd just glue 'em on the block. Maybe change over to a Forever stem and call it art!
