Illinois Shipping Confusion / Any Good Tobacconists in the Carbondale Area?

So I live in an apartment building and have my mail shipped to a P.O. box and my attempts to research the Illinois state laws on shipping tobacco products have just left me confused and frustrated so I instead I'm just asking the community. Also I would appreciate any info on tobacconists in the Carbondale region.

I've heard that Yesteryear Tobacconists is good. I've never been, but it seems to be a tobacconist in the traditional sense.

I work with a guy that goes to yesteryear he said they are good, I buy most of mine online and have never had a problem. I live about 50 or 60 miles north of you. I buy some tubs over in St. Louis at Dirt Cheap. I am pretty sure they have stores in Cape and Charleston in missouri

The law confusion was whether or not I could have tobacco shipped to a P.O. box.

I am not sure how the PO boxes work but I get them shipped to my house. Are you in carbondale or close by.

I grew up in Illinois but am a longtime resident of N.C., but my impression is the P.O. is okay with tobacco in consumer quantities. The one time I stated I was mailing tobacco, the clerk looked unsure and asked the supervisor who assured them it was okay. Since the P.O. is federal, I think the laws are uniform to that degree, but if there is further state law on the subject I don't know.

When I lived in Carbondale (looooong time ago) I never looked for the "pipe tobacco" that I look for today.

Do you have to mark what is in the package for domestic shipments? If you don't, there's no way they would know what was being sent to your PO box.

Unfortunately in the southern part of the state there is not a large selection but there are one or two.

If the concern is about who will sign for the package, you should be able to have a signature form on file for your PO Box.
