I have never had the sensation of smelling fish from any tobacco I've smoked and I'm grateful for the small favor.

Holy mackerel! I’ve smelt it too. Let me mullet over. From my perch, I think it’s a bunch of carp, but then again I can be a reel flathead.

Amines are compounds derived from ammonia that are found in tobacco. They can produce fishy or ammonia smells on curing leaves.

Amines (trimethylamine to be specific) are what cause the fishy odour in canola fed eggs as well.

I've certainly come across rustica and some other leafs that smell kind of not so much fishy as like lady parts when used in snuff. Like if I use one of those snuffs forget about taking it and then talk to a lady I think she really likes me at first. So there is certainly something in tobacco that can smell like that and it would not surprise me if processing certain commercially viable leaf could bring that smell out more.
