Why it's a periscope. Is the mirror in an indentation, or is it wrapped around the curve of the bowl? I can't tell. I can't quite get with enjoying a smoke and surreptitious viewing of the surroundings, but it might be satisfying. Cosmic has another idea with mirrors on his shoes; that explains the mania for spit shining shoes. Spy lore includes using store windows as rear view mirrors. Some street photographers used to use the old twin lens reflex cameras with the big viewfinder in the top, turned sideways, to catch photos of people while appearing to be facing in another direction. With phone cameras, the options for secretive photography are endless.

Follow the link above for more pictures. It is inset and actually has a sliding briar cover to conceal it.

My grandfather had an attachment for is Nikkon F that went on the end of a lens and was a 90 degree mirror but looked like and ordinary part of the lens so he could take candids unobtrusively when he traveled.

Down the page it shows a horn with green stem. To me the two don't go together, that stately, complex form and the unexpected and for that reason garish stem.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it does. SJ developed an amazing technique for curved drilling. The insanus series blows my mind though.
I've always wondered that, especially with the broken & the upside-down pipes, there's some pretty steep turns in those of I've understood the engineering right.

For $300 it better also have a camera, a camera detector, a bug detector, night vision, wi-fi, be self-cleaning, and refuse to light if the smoker packs an English blend in it.
That would be high-tech and no longer handcrafted. When it came to modern art that seemed a bit strange, my mother used to say "Shit on a stick is also a flower “ In Berlin there is a spy museum where you can see a pipe a la James Bond that was developed in WWll. It is a pipe gun that was used by the British Secret Service (SOE =Special Operation Executive) to kill Nazis.
