Well, I've been looking for a 499 for a while. This one came up on eBay a short time ago and I got it for about $20. It's a good score, considering a similar second(The St. James) of this model sold for over $100. This one was made for Leonard Pipe shop, stamped Dover Deluxe with the old Comoy's Made in England stamp, which should date it to late '30s-'40s. I read an article that said Leonard's was known for having high grade pipes made for their shop by well known makers. I'll post some more pics when I get time for the restoration. Hopefully soon!

Nice pipe Sam, enjoy it. By the way, I was smoking 2014 Robert McConnell Scottish Cake this morning, the one you sent me during last year's SS event. It is an amazing blend.

Terrific score, that pipe should clean up well, as it’s already in nice shape. It really doesn’t need much more than a good reaming, stem polishing and general briar polishing. The bent Rhodesian is one of my very favorite shapes as well, please post pics of her all cleaned up, should be a real beauty, congrats.
