I found an old flask, and it’s full of scotch.
I suppose it’s a decent enough stainless steel flask.
The whiskey smells okay, but do you suppose it really is?

Oh, it’s my old flask, and I figure the scotch in it is Macallan.

They usually advise against leaving liquor in the flask for more than a few days, but I have no idea why. Maybe the metal leaches into the drink?

It will likely not taste the same as the whisky going in, so I would just chuck it instead of drinking it if it were me. Nice choice on the Macallan though!

According to the gentleman hip flask guide it says:

Storage
How long may you keep the spirit in a flask? You should not leave it for longer than a week, as an upper limit; ideally, you should carry your day’s quota and drink it on the same day. Some say that anything over three days will make the beverage acquire a metallic taste from the flask. If you do not plan to drink the flask content promptly, transfer it to a glass container. Also, put the flask with alcohol in a cool and dark place; this may slow the development of the metallic taste.
