For stong smoke lovers:
Get some GH&Co Kendal Kentucky (it's a coarse shag) and some Brown Bogie (it's a rope).
Slice the rope with a SHARP chef's knife into coins the same width as the KK.
"Un do" the coins with your fingers and "fluff" the strands until fully separated.
Spread out and let it dry for quite a while. It has an oily sort of wetness that's slow to dissipate. (The room where it dries will smell heavenly, though, so the wait has some payback.)
When it has the same feel/humidity as your KK, gather into a pile.
Grab some KK and fluff it into a pile the same size and density as the Bogie.
Toss-mix-combine the two piles thoroughly.
Put the result in a mason jar to age.
Five seconds is long enough.
Fill your favorite pipe with it.
Light.
Smoke.
Fall in Love.
One caution: fine tobacco is easy to pack too tightly. Take care to avoid unevenness (clumps), and stop filling/packing at the "first sign of draw resistance plus one click". If in doubt, go too loose to start with and pack with a tamper while smoking to get the feel of smoking shag in a pipe.
