My wife bought me a new 'Salim' Meerqueen. It's a beautiful pipe carved with the figure of a retriever holding a quail. It's a little heavy, but the main issue is the super tight draw. Even with the stem detached from the pipe, the draw through the stem is very restrictive. Is there some way to open the draw, or possibly to get a replacement stem with a better draw? I hate to attempt to heat, straighten, drill, heat & re-bend, because if I screw it up my wife will have a cow.

Turned out to be the tenon itself. I ran a pick in there and twisted it, gently pushing and 'drilling' and it 'popped' through and my draft problem is solved

I don't think it was any object. Maybe a malformed piece of the plastic like a tag?? Either way it smokes fine now. thanks for offering support @meerqueen, I didn't think it was an issue worth going to you about.
