Some HU tins have a small 4 letter code near top of the rim – the last of these 4 letter stands for the year – it is now „R“
Other HU tins have a little orange sticker since last year – there they simply put the date of manufacturing – easy.

Since I said I received the email in June 2018, I'd assume R is 2018.
I got an S. That means R cannot be 2020. So as @hoosierpipeguy said - R is 2018,S is 2019 and T is 2020

Looking into the code again, K might mean November ... I am speculating but the above code in my pic may be November 2019
This is probably true for all K&K tobacco not just HU. For example this is Jan-2020 and most probably the reason why my Estervals order was back ordered
I didn't realize we were talking about K&K date codes. See Janez/Pipe&Tobak's video below (he also talks about other manufacturers' codes too). The first letter is irrelevant. The second, third, and fourth letters are the day, month, and year; A is 1, B is 2, . . ., AA is 27, and so forth. So, A/W/A/T is 23 Jan. '20.

Why dont some manufacturers just put the dang date on it instead of a code?
