I have too many jars going and too many tins I want to try. I try and be a responsible little puffer and only smoke my jarred stuff until I empty a jar or two for the next tin I want to open. I have lost control a time or two and smoked half a tin before it got crispy.... The exploration of the cellar is one of my favorite parts of the hobby.

Sometimes I wish that the flavors were more consistent but I am far methodical in my sampling, pipe selecting and attention paying to this dadgum adventure...

I’m hopelessly addicted to novelty - I’m currently at 120 tins I’ve popped into jars for easy access. I keep meaning to run through my jars before cracking new tins, but my curiosity gets the better of me time and time again. I have about 30 empty jars left, and I’m not going to buy any more for now. Hopefully, this will dissuade me from opening any more tins until the jars become available again.

I would say there’s 4 blends I regularly return to, with the rest being something I take a pinch from now and then to shake things up. I’m at the point where I mostly know what I like, but I smoke small enough bowls and infrequently enough that I go through no more than 3 ounces a month, meaning I would be smoking the same thing for a month or so if I wanted to run through a single tin at a time, and that sounds far too repetitive for me.

I tend to circle five or six blends at any particular time, but I have about twenty open tins, jars, pouches, etc. At least. I think that's about a third of my total "cellar."

Bugs me to have too many options - not sure why.

So, I keep 4 or 5 blends near my pipes. The cellar stays in a different part of the house, out of sight.

Staples are old production Carter Hall and Lane's 1Q. To keep things interesting I usually have an open VA blend plus a lighter Latakia blend - currently GLP Fillmore and Asthon's Consummate Gentleman. Like I said, having too many jar at the ready, just sitting there, bugs me... 🤨

Since it's been wickedly hot & humid here is SW FL, pipe smoking outside is a challenge, so I only have about 4 or 5 open at present. When it cools down a bit, I'll pope more to have a wider variety. Love a good pipe outdoors when it's crisp outside. Yeah - for the whole week of fall-winter-spring here!

I have about 80 jarred “open” tins, but at any one time most of what I’m smoking is from a group of 10-12 blends. Of that, about half stay the same, while the other half slowly changes back and forth

Like many others on here, I'm in the ubiquitous "too many" camp. About three dozen jars, about a 60/40 split of 16 oz. to 8 oz. Also, like others, I do my best to keep my hands off of my tin collection, but once in a while, curiosity gets the better of me. I've gone through my cellar about a half dozen times in the past three years, culling the herd, as some do with their pipe collections. Much to my wife's relief (not to mention my bank account), I do not have PAD, only TAD.

So, how many tins do you have open at any given time in your rotation?

I’m guilty of always having to open a new blend when I receive it so, more mason jars than I’d like to admit.

If I had to guess, I probably have around 15 that are in jars that I smoke on a fairly good rotation.

Chances are it’s probably closer to 20, but doing this helped me realize that, with all these limited releases now being a thing, Id yet to have one truly make me regret not buying more.

It’s easier to pass on a lot of the new ones nowadays because of that.

Not sure what I expect, but they have all tasted like tobacco with varying degrees of spice or sweetness. Nothing special. Maybe it’s the hype, but luckily none have lived up to it so I just let others post their experiences. (Plus I’m running out of room to keep adding much more than I smoke)

I'd like to be at 8, but I'm hovering right now at 11 or 12, maybe more. Pretty soon it'll be down to 10 though. I need to hit my aros more, that's what I have the most open of any category (4 if I remember right) next to English blends (I think also at maybe 4-6, but I'm not worried about those losing anything over time being opened, most seem pretty taste-stable over time).

I don't have anything that's a regular in rotation. Some likely will be in the future though, when I am done exploring.
