EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob

Started a list 12 yrs ago. As time went on, i would add to it, but my computer crashed & the file was lost, no paper backup. This week, I finally started to compile a list, forcing me to organize the cellar. Yea, found 3lbs of 5100 from 2008, among other forgotten blends. Question, for those that cellar, how up to date & accurate is your list?

I don't have a huge cellar so I don't keep a list. I mark on the bottom of the tin with a Sharpie the month/year that I purchased them.

Very up to date and accurate for tins. I have to inventory bulk when I return from an extended vacation. I created an Excel spread sheet. First tab is a complete compilation. Then have a tab for each tote/tub. The other tabs all tie into the first sheet of totals. Add to or take out of the totes/tubs, update on the individual sheets and updates the totals sheet. Backed up to the cloud, Microsoft One Drive.

I do this too. Sans the Microsoft cloud backup.

I use tobaccocellar.com. It has a backup feature that I download every now and then in case the site shuts down. It is easy to add new blends. The site is minimal in appearance and loads fast. I always add new orders once I tin date them and add the date to the tin itself. If I cant tin date from my list of manufactures I have compiled, I use date obtained. I do not add any single tins that I am trying first to see if I like them.

I am slowly going shelf by shelf to list the ones I have missed. Right now I have 1442 tins\bags logged.

I like this idea -have been meaning to make a spreadsheet for this. I have some jarred bulk and only a few tins but definitely have been trying to squirrel away an extra tin or so when buying tobacco.

I only wish it was big enough to forget I had something.

i don’t keep amounts. If I make upkeep of the list too onerous, I’ll never maintain it. But I do keep the names of all of them.

And I've seen your cellar over there; damn epic! You need a backup.

Not accurate at all anymore. I kept track for years, but life got busy and the master list got old. Life is still busy, and now with file cabinets and wood wine cases filled with tins I don't know if I will ever find the time to inventory. My son has interest in the hobby, maybe he will do it for us.

I figure I've currently got about 12lbs bulk blends-not counting all the tobacco that I have grown. Cigar,Bright, burley and oriental. Maybe 40lbs of that. Drips and drabs of of various bulk blends in bell jars. 20-30 tins. dates written on the underside of the tins. glad mdw can't read this.

I used to know what was in my cellar as I used my histories from SP and PC. Then those miserable bastards CI destroyed my list leaving me with no freaking clue.

One day I am gong to pay hoosierpipeguy to organize my cellar for major bribe.
