Goes to show you how small the world can be.
Yesterday evening I met a nice young man at my B&M. He was enjoying a cigar and I my pipe. He mentioned his dad, a piper, was about out of a tobacco blend he was crazy about. His dad had friends pick him up 7 lbs. of it years ago, which he had cellered, from a pipe shop in Dallas that is no longer in operation. We were exchanging information and he mentioned growing up in Oregon and that he and his wife planned on returning for a week in a few days. After giving him your information on House of Calabash, and the blenders ability, I had just picked up on yesterday, he looked it up on his I-phone and said he was going to try and get by and see them. He still needs to get a sample from his dad.
A guy in N. Carolina, smokes a blend that is no longer available from a blender in Dallas and gets hooked up by two guys who meet by chance in a B&M in Oklahoma City, with a blender in Oregon City, all enabled by a blog on the internet. This young man plays in a band and I have never seen him in our B&M lounge before. How cool is that?!
