Hi I have recently started with a beginner's pipe and was wondering if it's ok to let the pipe go out by putting it aside for a few minutes, and then going back to it and relighting it? Thanks

I think so. Most of my bowls are smoked intermittently, with one thing or another interrupting the smoke. A little extra drying time after heating it up with an ember sometimes seems to improve the burn. I often smoke half the bowl one day, and finish it the next with no problem.

I do it all the time. What you aren't supposed to do is pack your bowl directly from your pouch, use your finger to tamp down the ash, or knock the ash out on the bottom of your shoe. If you do that, then you need to stand on one leg for 30 minutes while patting your head and beating off at the same time.

Welocome. Yes you can unlike cigarettes a pipe does not turn sour if it goes out, I have started a bowl in the evening and finished it the next morning

I've found half smoked pipes a week or more latter. Some of my most enjoyable smokes are a little game of "What was I smoking when I lost this pipe?"

The best reason for letting it go out is to also let it cool down before relighting, don’t let the bowls get hot, just warm.
