I know a guy who grew up in Philly. We started the same week as technicians at a semiconductor chip plant in Vermont back in the '90's. Soon after we started, three or four of us were in the bullpen having lunch. and the guy from Philly called the mechanics shop to see if his car was ready. Before he hung up, he asked "yous guys take checks?" The old timer sitting next to him turns and looks at me and says, "not anymore".
