Gents, Just acquired this pipe from EBeast. Unfortunately, it was poorly packed and the tenon snapped off. Nevertheless, it is a good looking pipe IMHO. Obviously, it is hand made. I have tried to research its background, but have come up short (as in no info at all!). Does anyone know anything about this maker?

Update: With the info provided by canucklehead, I was able to dive a little deeper. 'Royal Aten' was actually the name of a pipe maker/artisan who lived in Mattoon, Illinois. He had a pipe shop there (Darby Pipe Shop) through the 1960s.

"tobacco with labels reading Dutchflake, Royal Darby and Havana Ribbon.

Some of the recipes date back to the original owner, Royal Aten, who operated the shop on the east end of the business district in Mattoon"

These sound like good blends, or at least good names for blends. Is Dutchflake made of Dutch-style Cavendish, or is it flavoured like Dutch chocolate, or is it circular like a Dutch pannekoek? Is Havana Ribbon sliced up cigars? ???

That looks like a great pipe though, hopefully you can fix it up nicely.
