In 6 months I've accumulated far too many pipes, all used but I've had fun restoring them, even some ancient filthy cobs. I actually prefer a cob but couldn't tell you why. Just bought my first new pipe, a Peterson spigot. It's quite nice, I can see the attraction. I also have a very old Savinelli along the same lines. They are indeed probably my best briars now...but I have an irrational soft spot for bent Grabow Starfires, my first ever.

Did I mention that I like cobs?

Also have a bookcase full of smoke, about half of it codgers. Lately I've really developed a taste for English blends and especially for Lakeland.
