Central Nebraska
Welcome from Central Nebraska! I worked with a fella that was a retired barge captain on the Ohio. Saw some pictures of those barges and never realized how big they actually are until you see a person on one for scale! So what's your favorite blend? What pipe are you smoking? Have you started singing sea shanties in a grizzled ole sailors voice yet?

Welcome aboard from central North Carolina. I can't believe how high the banks of the Ohio River are at Cincinnati and Covington, that they would have chosen that deep a river bed for the cities, and fast running. It accommodates the bridges but not much for a river port. I like Covington for its public German Pied Piper clock and what may still be a puppet theater, and Cinci for its pasta and chili fast food and multi-story Ohio Book Store.

In the semi-rural NorthEastern USA
I've spent a lot of time in West Virginia my dad had some cheap land there, only good for hunting. One thing his neighbor was crazy and had the worlds worst guard dog. It looked scary but I promise you if you broke in that dog would try and cuddle with you.

Reggie, tell us more about your work on the tow boat. That sounds interesting. I was a minesweeper radioman years ago, U.S.S. Gallant, during the Peloponnesian War (as it were). But I was aboard for about a year, trained as a radioman, so my seamanship is limited. Are you licensed by the Coast Guard?
