I joined to find out more about a pipe that has been in my family for quite some time. I was told it's possibly made of ivory but that's all I know about it so any info would be great.
Welcome! I’m going to agree with Meerschaum, not Ivory. If it is indeed Ivory, be sure and meticulously check the law before selling if that’s your goal. Again though, I’d nigh on bet my cellar you’ve a meerschaum ;-)
Thanks for the info y'all ! Think I'll go do some research on meerschaum pipes. I want to get it fixed if possible it's been broken around the top for quite some time. Where can I take it and would it be worth fixing?
Welcome to the site. This is Meerschaum, not ivory. Depending on the break, the amount of effort involved to repair it varies. If there is a clean break, I personally would just use superglue to reattach the broken part. If there is material missing from inside the break, some sort of fill material would be required.
